Depression, lack of confidence, anxiety, and stress can lead to an unhealthy lifestyle and impulsive decisions, troubled decisions. We want to lend a helping hand to prevent or heal these feelings.

With your help we are able to give these teens and young adults just what they need to educate them on life and its difficulties, especially as young people. Your sponsorship will be used to provide these boys and girls with the perseverance they need with our events and activities.

Volunteer

Volunteers must be 13 years or older. All volunteers will be required to attend a volunteer training session that will be scheduled with the Vice-President upon the receipt of application. For questions, please email info@thetroubledmovement.org.

The Troubled Movement, Inc. is always looking for hard-working, energetic individuals or groups to assist us in reaching our goals.

Volunteer opportunities available:

Clerical/Administrative - The duties of the clerical volunteer opportunities include sending emails to supporters and donors, making phone calls, and assisting board members with development and program. We are looking for someone with organizational skills, an outgoing personality, and experience with Microsoft Office.

Event Volunteers - The duties of our event volunteers will be to assist in the coordination, planning, set-up, and clean-up of all Troubled Movement events. Whether you are an attendee greeter or parking attendant, we would love to have you share your time with us. 

Travel Volunteers - The duties of our travel volunteers will be to attend speaking engagements or events not hosted by The Troubled Movement. We will need someone to transport items, assist with set-up, engage with the audience, run our vendor table, and more. Come travel with us as we reach the teens and young adults of the community. Travel consists of the Houston and surrounding areas.

Internships

Volunteer Coordinator

Job description:

As the Volunteer Coordinator of The Troubled Movement you will be our direct liaison between our committee members, executive board, and volunteers. We are starting this off as an unpaid internship position with the possibility of making it a permanent, paid position.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with scheduling and tracking volunteers and maintain communications between the volunteer team and TTM as directed by Program Committee or other designee. 
• Conduct new volunteer socials and meetings, process new volunteer applications, email follow-up, meeting schedules. 
• Conduct outreach to various universities and professional groups, giving presentations about TTM and recruiting new volunteers

Requirements:

• Experience in a non-profit environment preferred
• Outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Must be self-motivated and complete assignments without being instructed to do so
• Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
• Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and aesthetics
• “All hands-on deck” approach

Grant Research intern

Do you love research? Do you love helping others? Are you studying finance, accounting, or management? The Troubled Movement, Inc. has an opportunity for you!

Job description:

The Troubled Movement is looking for an organized and research-oriented individual to help locate and create a listing of grant opportunities for our non-profit organization. We have multiple programs that focus on the enrichment of teens, young adults, and victims of mental illness and abuse. We are asking that someone discover grants that cater to small organizations, community development, youth, victim services, projects, programs, building funding, and events.

Computer research and Microsoft Office skills, good written communication skills and a positive attitude are needed for this position.

Are you a research or non-profit major? Are you a retiree with access to a computer? This internship opportunity will look great on your resume as well as your ability to help a growing non-profit organization.

If possible, this job may also include fundraising ideas research.

A minimum of 5-10 hours a week will be required to obtain this position. Your work will be evaluated by the President and Treasurer of this organization.
